John Adams - Bass - Producer - Band Leader
An accomplished acoustic and electric bassist, John Adams is one of the Southwest's most in-demand jazz, pop and studio musicians. He holds bachelor and master of music degrees in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas where he also served as the jazz bass professor for ten years.
John has backed vocalists Mel Torme and Rosemary Clooney, and jazz stars such as Woody Herman, Randy Brecker, Joe McBride, Chet Baker, Clark Terry, Dave Liebman and others. His broad musical background has also included extensive pop, orchestral, and show work, including The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and Fort Worth Ballet Orchestra, and Dallas Symphony Pops Concerts.
In addition to his studio work recording and arranging for other artists, Adams has released six highly-acclaimed and deeply varied jazz recordings which have received airplay on over 160 stations nationwide. The latest release, “Thumbs Up,” (’09),
features studio performances by several members of Special Edition and other first-call musicians, has a fresh, contemporary sound, with exciting originals and stunning arrangements of some surprising classics.
